The class is sponsored by the Centre for Applied Jungian Studies. I was quite captivated by his discussion of a painting “Isles of the Dead” by Arnold Böcklin painted in1880 . It supposedly depicts an island near Corfu where people went to be buried. In fact, one of Böcklin’s 8 dead children was buried here. The exact number of spinoffs of this painting is unknown but is estimated to be in the hundreds. In fact, Böcklin allegedly did 5 versions of this subject himself. I was in an another on-line class and referring to this painting and one of the members of the group, Denny Webster, had done a rendition in fabric. She did a great job capturing the the light in the grotto, the reflection on the water and the cypress trees. https://www.dennywebster.com/ What makes this painting so provocative? It has seeded an entire aesthetic and thematic genre. Listen hear to Rachmaninoff’s beautiful rendition with 15 million views by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbbtmskCRUY What, if anything, do you listen to when you are creating? |

In Indra’s...
November 2025 Behind the Scenes Ollie Behind the Seams: Where Love and Fabric Meet This was my studio on an ordinary afternoon — fabric everywhere, light in all corners, and Ollie, my steadfast studio companion, stretched out across my work as if to remind me that presence matters more than perfection. I once made a quilt inspired by this very moment. It didn’t turn out well — at least, not in the way I hoped — and I think I eventually let it go. Now, with Ollie gone, I find myself wishing...
October 2025 Behind the Scenes Photo back layer Completed piece Portal in process I had long wanted to try Wen Redmond’s holographic printing technique—the way it layers light and image always felt like peering into another realm. I finally braved it, and with a little ingenuity (and a touch of beginner’s magic), I created a small piece that feels like a shimmering window into another world. “There’s No Place Like Home” is part of the S.A.F.E. Animal Rescue fundraiser now on view at The Art...
