Behind the ScenesThis is the “Mystic Trio” piece. On the left is the fabric dyed piece, quilted and sheer overlay. I quilted the blue arm too dark and it impeded the visibility of the sheer face overlay. The new addition to my studio, a Bernina Q16 has a learning curve for me. Even though it has stitch regulator, I must have been anxious especially around the hand and fingers part and the stitches came out teeny tiny. I have spent about 5 hours under magnified glass with an even higher power magnifying glass inside and still have some more to remove. The photo on the bottom shows how much more I have to do. Yikes! What are you working on or working on ripping out? UpcomingThe Artist’s Threshold: Letting Go of the Ordinary, Claiming the Creative Life “Doors are meant to be opened. April 2026 Behind the Scenes I’ve been spending time completing an Angel Book, a small but meaningful project that reminds me that not every creative act must be monumental to be sacred. Some works are grand and public. Others are quiet companions. This little book feels like a conversation with beauty, protection, and unseen guidance. There is something healing about finishing what has been waiting patiently. What creative project in your life is asking to be completed? Upcoming Luminous...
March 2026 Behind the Scenes Indra’s Net – The Infinite Light Within 42" × 59" (In Process) Artist Statement: Indra’s Net reflects the Buddhist vision of an infinite web where each luminous jewel mirrors all others and each part contains the whole. Nothing exists alone. Each of us shines with a singular light, yet our radiance is magnified through reflection. We are shaped by one another; our choices ripple outward beyond what we see. To look into one jewel is to glimpse the whole - an...
December 2025 Behind the Scenes As I continue working on a piece inspired by the story of Indra’s Net, I was struck by a line from artist Sandra Junele, who said that watching her grandfather transform discarded wood taught her that “waste is not the end of a story, but the beginning of a new one.” Her words mirror the very heart of Indra’s Net — the ancient idea that everything is connected, everything reflects everything else, and nothing is ever truly separate or disposable. In Indra’s...
