Behind the Scenes

This is the “Mystic Trio” piece. On the left is the fabric dyed piece, quilted and sheer overlay. I quilted the blue arm too dark and it impeded the visibility of the sheer face overlay.

The new addition to my studio, a Bernina Q16 has a learning curve for me. Even though it has stitch regulator, I must have been anxious especially around the hand and fingers part and the stitches came out teeny tiny.

I have spent about 5 hours under magnified glass with an even higher power magnifying glass inside and still have some more to remove. The photo on the bottom shows how much more I have to do. Yikes!

What are you working on or working on ripping out?

The Artist’s Threshold:

Letting Go of the Ordinary, Claiming the Creative Life

“Doors are meant to be opened. Do not stand outside knocking forever.”
— Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Every artist reaches a moment when the old way no longer fits—and something deeper begins to call. The Artist’s Threshold is a 90-minute IN PERSON creative workshop for artists, makers, and visionaries who feel they are standing at the edge of change.

Through symbolic imagery, guided reflection, and an intuitive collage process, you’ll explore what you're ready to leave behind and what your creative soul is longing to step into. This is your invitation to stop knocking—and walk through the doorway of your next chapter.

This is more than a workshop—it’s an initiation into the creative life you were meant to live. Includes all materials. No prior art experience needed.

Art, Archetype & Ancient Wisdom

In today’s world, sometimes it feels like hope is hard to come by.

Here's a more expansive view of HOPE by Archetypal Consultant and Mythologist, Kristina Dryza presented at the World Hope Foundation. It gave me something bigger to latch onto in these tumultuous days:

October 2025 Behind the Scenes Photo back layer Completed piece Portal in process I had long wanted to try Wen Redmond’s holographic printing technique—the way it layers light and image always felt like peering into another realm. I finally braved it, and with a little ingenuity (and a touch of beginner’s magic), I created a small piece that feels like a shimmering window into another world. “There’s No Place Like Home” is part of the S.A.F.E. Animal Rescue fundraiser now on view at The Art...

Behind the Scenes Becoming Artist of the Month at The Art Collective Gallery was both exhilarating and daunting. I realized that as many pieces of art that I have laying around, they would not hang well together. I suddenly had to produce 12–14 new works in just three and a half weeks. That deadline stirred up all kinds of inner voices — the survivor archetypes showed up in full force. The Victim complained there wasn’t enough time. The Saboteur whispered that I’d never pull it off. The...

Behind the Scenes Where the Maps End (in progress) I’m fortunate to be a member of The Art Collective Gallery. In 3 weeks, I will be the monthly featured artist. Not having a lot of time to prepare for this, lots of things are surfacing for me. How quickly can I create pieces? How much am I affected by the “commercial” aspect of being in a gallery? Is there a way I can simply my usual way of making larger pieces with a message? At first, I thought I could quickly do studies of color or...
