March 2026 Behind the ScenesIndra’s Net – The Infinite Light Within 42" × 59" (In Process) Artist Statement: Indra’s Net reflects the Buddhist vision of an infinite web where each luminous jewel mirrors all others and each part contains the whole. Nothing exists alone. Each of us shines with a singular light, yet our radiance is magnified through reflection. We are shaped by one another; our choices ripple outward beyond what we see. To look into one jewel is to glimpse the whole - an endless, luminous field of shared being and mutual illumination. My challenge has been to try to create luminosity and glow with the gems. I think I need to add more paints around the gems. I don’t think that adding beading will really achieve my desired affect from distance viewing. Would love your thoughts and suggestions. Art, Archetype & Ancient WisdomThe Mystic archetype is drawn to what is ultimate, invisible, and true. At its core is a longing to know the self so deeply that the self no longer obstructs the sacred. The Mystic lives reflectively, often with a natural capacity to hold sacred space, listen beneath the surface, and surrender to something greater than personal will. In the light, this archetype is marked by devotion, humility, and a willingness to love without precondition or recognition. Like the great mystics across time—Hildegard of Bingen, Teresa of Ávila, John of the Cross, Rumi, Julian of Norwich—the Mystic is not merely interested in spiritual ideas, but in direct encounter, inner transformation, and union with the Divine. Yet the shadow of the Mystic is often misunderstood. Many are drawn to this archetype because it seems luminous, serene, and spiritually elevated, but the true mystical path is rarely easy. It is often an arduous passage through inner turmoil, surrender, silence, uncertainty, and the stripping away of ego. The shadow can feel like living in a thick mist—shrouded, struggling, suffering, and unable to find clear footing—while still being asked to remain open. The Mystic’s grace is not superficial peace; it is hard-won. This is the path of surrender, and surrender asks everything. |
December 2025 Behind the Scenes As I continue working on a piece inspired by the story of Indra’s Net, I was struck by a line from artist Sandra Junele, who said that watching her grandfather transform discarded wood taught her that “waste is not the end of a story, but the beginning of a new one.” Her words mirror the very heart of Indra’s Net — the ancient idea that everything is connected, everything reflects everything else, and nothing is ever truly separate or disposable. In Indra’s...
November 2025 Behind the Scenes Ollie Behind the Seams: Where Love and Fabric Meet This was my studio on an ordinary afternoon — fabric everywhere, light in all corners, and Ollie, my steadfast studio companion, stretched out across my work as if to remind me that presence matters more than perfection. I once made a quilt inspired by this very moment. It didn’t turn out well — at least, not in the way I hoped — and I think I eventually let it go. Now, with Ollie gone, I find myself wishing...
October 2025 Behind the Scenes Photo back layer Completed piece Portal in process I had long wanted to try Wen Redmond’s holographic printing technique—the way it layers light and image always felt like peering into another realm. I finally braved it, and with a little ingenuity (and a touch of beginner’s magic), I created a small piece that feels like a shimmering window into another world. “There’s No Place Like Home” is part of the S.A.F.E. Animal Rescue fundraiser now on view at The Art...
